This book does explain conduit bending in great detail with pictures

This book does explain conduit bending in great detail with pictures. It tells you how to do everything but I have found in my experience that practice is the best teacher so I would recommend going out to your favorite local hardware store, picking up a 1/2" EMT bender to start, getting a bundle of EMT, go home and practice practice practice the methods in this book! This is what helped me.

this book is an excellent addition to the information available on conduit bending. The coverage on mechanical and electrical benders is great, with detailed explanation of the travel method. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the subject.

Awesome stuff

Excellent book for the intermediate conduit bender. Has some more advanced techniques too if you have to do something extra difficult. The book is great, but my favorite feature is the small reference booklet. It now resides in my toolbox as a cheat sheet anytime I need to match offsets or 90s.

Well written and motivating with lots of good ideas

I have not broken my leg like the author did but I had my own "wake up call" (quite literally this morning) when I had hyperextended a knee last night and literally could not walk this morning when I got out of bed. I was terrified that I would not be able to work (and therefore not be able to make money). I'm a single mom who lives alone 50 percent of the time and I simply can not lose my mobility!

The book is an easy read and well-written. While repetitive sometimes (but arguably, necessary to drive home the point), the author makes a lot of good practical suggestions which are easily incorporated in ones day-to-day life.

What I like about the book is the author has been where I am and found her way up and out without resorting to fads, surgery, and other extreme measures... it is about common sense approaches, low-cost support systems, and assembling the emotional tools and self-discipline necessary to go through the transformation from being morbidly obese to healthy.

I am on day 1 and I realize that I'm teetering on the brink of becoming one of those folks that can't walk around the store and has to use a scooter vs climbing back out of the hole I have dug for myself so that I can live the next 50 years of my life independent and self-sufficient. Ain't no one gonna do it for me so it is up to me! That is the message the author provides in her book and one that I need to have drilled into my head day after day after day.

Just what I needed to read!

This book cuts right to the quick of aging and how to age as well as you would like to. Laura's voice is clear throughout the book as she takes us through her transformation. I have to say that I was hooked once I picked it up and had a difficult time putting it down. I saw myself often in these pages. Uplifting and down-to-earth at the same time...I highly recommend this to all who have joined the 50 club!

Quick motivational read!

Quick easy read, very motivational. Ms Sinclair had already decided to turn her health around when she suffered a major ankle fracture (all three bones). She used that life-changing event to truely focus on her health goals! She stayed off sugar during her recovery and reported to the gym as soon as she was able. She gradually cleaned up her eating habits as she gained fitness in the gym. She didn't rush, and lost 80 pounds over the course of a year. She is an engaging writer, and includes considerable common diet and health information along the way. This is an excellent book for someone who would like to turn their health around but doesn't really know how to do it. It's also excellent if you're just starting your journey with a fractured ankle. I only gave it 3 stars because I would expect a longer read for $6.99, and the last few chapters become a bit repetitive, as if she was trying to stretch it out. I still recommend it, however. I'm glad I read it.

Excellent way to add to our understanding of the times, Gene Edwards is a excellent story teller and I have read many of his books, he doesn't state this is how it was but how it could have been. As he says this is not for studying the Bible but has helped me putting a greater understanding to the times and culture, I do highly recommend this book as I would for all of his books I have read so far.

Gene Edwards is a master writer. He has studied and prayed over this and produced a masterpiece. You feel like you are there with Timothy in that first century. It is fiction but based on actual accounts from the Bible and other places and makes the life of Timothy come alive like never before. Incredible!

If I had to pick my very favorite book I got recently, it would be this. I love it so much. The year of 2016 is one of getting closer to God and this has launched my passion for truly seeking God with all my heart. I love that I can write thoughts and prayers each day. This is a precious gift!!

Great accompaniment to her workout dvds

This book is a great intro to Mary Helen's exercise philosophy. It guides you through her own struggles with her weight after she retired from the stage, and how she came to form Ballet Beautiful. It's nice to see how she designed this program to overcome some of the flaws in a 'standard' ballet day of exercise, and in doing so made her body more toned and stronger than it was when she was dancing everyday. It's also nice to see how she's human too! She's struggled with weight and making the right choices, so she's not up on a high horse.
She workouts she goes through in her book are good because they teach you the correct form more so than her dvds, but I think you really need the dvds as well to see how she does the exercises.
The recipes section is the least inspiring part of the book as it's extremely basic, but I think that's important, in a way. It shows readers that eating simple, healthy food is all you need to stay on top of your diet. But if you're looking for interesting ways to prepare lots of veggies (which is the cornerstone of any good diet), I would recommend Kimberley Snyder's Detox Beauty Foods.

My Search For A Healthy Lifestyle Is Finally OVER!

When I first heard about Ballet Beautiful, a light bulb turned on inside of me and I knew, right there and then, that I would have finally found the perfect solution to my health. I was, and still am, just an ordinary girl who, like many other females, score high and low for an exercising and dieting regime. I've tried going to the gym, I've tried doing P90x, I've tried running on the treadmill in a basement, I've tried jogging in my neighborhood, I've tried fitness trends like Zumba dancing and so on. And it always ends the same: Either I hate the way my body started to look, or it got too difficult and I would become commitment-phobic and just drop the regime, much to my deep disappointment. What really burns me is that I can't ask people nowadays on how to lose weight without looking bulky because then I'll get verbally assaulted, that "women cannot bulk up", that I'm being ridiculous. Well, I did P90x, and I bulked and looked strange. As a soft spoken, sensitive introvert, it just doesn't fit my personality, if that makes sense. I wanted to look lean, limber, and very much feminine. I thought I'd never find the solution... and then I brought this Kindle.

I read about her workouts in the book and I knew I had to grab her DVDs. They were all surprisingly challenging, despite her moves that look deceptively simple, but they are also very fun and the results are losing weight, dropping inches everywhere, becoming firm and toned, and still keeping your womanly curves without the bulges and cellulite. I look and feel like a princess the more I do these. Mary's first couple of chapters is her talking about the mindset- that no, you do NOT have to do her workouts perfectly, and that you do NOT have to kill yourself every single day doing a lot of working out to get results. She taught me that, hey, its okay to mess up and not workout for an entire day or even a week because of life circumstances. She taught me that I should forgive myself, brush myself off the dirt, and just workout the next day with her customizing workouts. This is such a huge relief for me. So much of the workout culture is all about shaming other people and pushing people too hard. I don't do that mess anymore, and I remain flexible thanks to Mary.

Her diets are amazing! I have found new dishes and food that are nutritionally dense that I've never heard of before! Mary is so right about eating a healthy, balanced meals, and to not stress yourself too much over sizes or calories. Remember that not every calorie is equal. Ever heard of "empty calories"? Yeah, it's true: Tons of unhealthy, processed foods, like diet sodas, are nothing but empty calories and have a ton of sugars and dangerous chemicals that knocks your entire body system off. People become overweight and obese, not just because of how much calories they put inside their bodies, believe it or not... but because a lot of people are eating THE WRONG FOODS. When you eat the wrong foods, you will always feel crabby, moody, hungry, sickly, and experiencing sugar spikes that will have you eating the entire house and STILL not feeling satisfied! Mary's meals are nutritious, clean, wholesome, and has a wonderful balance of healthy carbs, fats, and proteins, so that you will always feel and look your best. Let go of the numbers for once and start looking at the ingredients. When you eat good food, you will always feel contently full and satisfied, and you'll be able to just live life in peace. She preaches about never going to the extreme just to get results; you can still enjoy chocolate, alcohol, coffee, red meat, and other sinful foods, you just have to learn to pick healthy alternatives rather than restricting yourself from the things you love. I'll never give up on chocolate, but I can give up my favorite Snickers bar for a healthy alternative, which is dark chocolate that is rich with antioxidants and a high percentage of cocoa, for example!

Mary Helen Bowers, despite her seemingly glamorous life, is a down to earth lady just like you and I, and she is never arrogant or proud. She always stays humble and knows the reality of how busy life can be for everyday people. All she asks of you, is to stay flexible and open- If you're a mother who also has a full time job, all she asks is 15-30 minutes of working out during the evenings when the kids are doing homework and you can have time for yourself. If you're a med student deep in stress, all she asks is 15 minutes here and there to keep you healthy and alert. If you're juggling so many things at once, all she asks is that you plan your healthy meals accordingly so that you'll always munch on healthy snacks while running around with tasks. If you can stay flexible and forgiving of yourself, I promise you, you will see amazing results, and you will feel immensely proud of yourself. Just ask me! :-) My body is looking more and more amazing each day!

Since reading this book, I have become a Ballet Beautiful fitness workout FAN! She is inspiring, motivating, and her workouts are SO TARGETED!!!!!!!!!! She really changes the shape of your legs, butt, and inner thighs. Mary Helen Bowers is simple and so effective! Her workouts really burn! Anyone interested in targeting specific muscles in the legs, hips, butt and core region will want these exercises! I find for the actual workout, though, that you really need her videos to follow. Also, as a heads up, most of the workouts are on the matt, on the floor, similar to Pilates. I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Scholars agree that all three lived in first- to third-century C.E. India, so most studies have focused on locating them in ancient Indian history, religion, or society. To this end, they have used all available accounts of the Indian patriarchs' lives―in Sanskrit, Tibetan, various Central Asian languages, and Chinese, produced over more than a millennium―and viewed them as bearing exclusively on ancient India. Of these sources, medieval Chinese hagiographies are by far the earliest and most abundant.

Conceiving the Indian Buddhist Patriarchs in China is the first attempt to situate the medieval Chinese hagiographies of Aśvaghoṣa, Nāgārjuna, and Āryadeva in the context of Chinese religion, culture, and society of the time. It examines these sources not as windows into ancient Indian history but as valuable records of medieval Chinese efforts to define models of Buddhist sanctity. It explores broader questions concerning Chinese conceptions of ancient Indian Buddhism and concerns about being Buddhist in latter-day China. By propagating the tales and texts of Aśvaghoṣa, Nāgārjuna, and Āryadeva, leaders of the Chinese sangha sought to demonstrate that the means and media of Indian Buddhist enlightenment were readily available in China and that local Chinese adepts could thereby rise to the ranks of the most exalted Buddhist saints across the Sino-Indian divide. Chinese authors also aimed to merge their own kingdom with the Buddhist heartland by demonstrating congruency between Indian and Chinese ideals of spiritual attainment. This volume shows, for the first time, how Chinese Buddhists adduced the patriarchs as evidence that Buddhist masters from ancient India had instantiated the same ideals, practices, and powers expected of all Chinese holy beings and that the expressly foreign religion of Buddhism was thus the best means to sainthood and salvation for latter-day China.
